South West Durham Training (SWDT) would be delighted to receive applications for the role of chair of our executive board, due to take up the position in August 2021.
SWDT is part of the Bishop Auckland College Group and has been fundamental in providing engineering training in Newton Aycliffe and the surrounding area since 1967. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for building long term relationships with the local community and forging partnerships with employers and schools alike. Our new chair will contribute their skills, knowledge and experience to help SWDT achieve our vision of providing exceptional learning to our students, facilitate growth and contribute to the local economic regeneration.
This is a voluntary but highly rewarding role, which provides an opportunity to broaden your portfolio of experience and engage in excellent professional development. This is a particularly exciting time to be involved with SWDT as we have an ambitious agenda to deliver, which includes:
- Further improvements to our quality of education, providing our students with the skills required to succeed in the engineering and manufacturing sector.
- Delivering growth in government identified priority sectors such as apprenticeships and higher education.
- Further development of our relationships with employers and local businesses to grow and build economic prosperity, including recognising the unprecedented challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Shaping local economic development initiatives, through productive strategic relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
