Teesside University is delivering a brand new Digital Skills for Growth project until September 2021. The project is only available in Durham at this time, however, they are hoping to extend this to Tees Valley very shortly.
The aim of the project is to upskill individuals and teachers within the Durham region with digital skills and knowledge, this will be done through a series of taster sessions and short courses that will be accredited. They will be hosting Roadshows throughout the programme, approximately 2 to 3 per year which will be available across the Durham region, providing taster sessions in subjects such as Animation, Programming, Video Production, Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence. From these taster sessions, people are then able to identify the accredited short course(s) of interest which will be delivered through blended learning and will incorporate regular support from one of their Ambassadors. Learners are not limited to completing just one course over their learning journey, in fact, everyone is encouraged to study multiple courses to help them build their knowledge within digital technology which will support them to implement these new skills into their workplace.
It is very early days of the project and Teesside University would like to arrange a Focus Group made up of people from industry and from different sectors, to inform them about the courses and skills they need, so that they can develop these into their portfolio and provide them at the right level.
Teesside University is currently looking for approximately 10 companies to be involved in the group and they will join their academics and project team each quarter initially to discuss the courses most needed by industry.
