Forest Park School students and staff are celebrating after being graded “Good” overall with “Outstanding” behaviour and attitudes.
The School, situated in Newton Aycliffe, opened in September 2025. It caters for pupils with special educational needs, including those with ASD. The secondary school underwent a 3-day comprehensive and rigorous inspection on 11thMarch resulting in a glowing report on the work of all areas of the school, but with particular recognition in the area of behaviour and attitudes.
The report, published on 1st May, describes the high-quality education and support at the school. It states that “the school maintains and unwavering focus on ensuring all pupils learn effectively” and that “pupils achieve well as a result of embracing the opportunities provided”. It confirms that “pupils look forward to attending school”. They also commented that “the school sets ambitious expectations for all pupils’ achievements” and that Forest Park is “a place where they can truly be themselves and flourish”.
Jackie Reynolds, Headteacher, said “I could not be more proud of our students and staff. Forest Park is a school that strives to provide inspirational education and prepare our students effectively for their next steps. Despite many of our students having had prolonged periods out of school prior to joining us, they quickly come to view our school as a wonderful place to learn, make friendships and thrive. The report recognises our School culture, where everyone is valued and supported to achieve their potential. Forest Park really is a fantastic environment in which to work, learn and achieve. My vision in establishing our unique school has been realised. I would like to thank our dedicated and talented staff team who make every day exceptional for our students, they go above and beyond to create a highly effective environment for learning that offers tailored support as well as academic challenge in line with individual needs.”
